This past Saturday night I completed my first marathon!!!  My friend Crystal and I walked 26.2 miles around Manhattan for the inaugural NYC Moonwalk for breast cancer.  My friend Margo from Brooklyn Fit Chick joined us for 13 of those miles.  I was one of the three Real Health contributor’s participating in this event as part of the Blue Cross Blue Shield Team.

A big congrats to the rest of my team who completed the half marathon and to everyone else who participated in this event in the hot, steamy heat we had overnight on Saturday.

We started walking at 10:30 pm and finished around 7:45 am!  This was an amazing, unique and painful experience that tested both our mental and physical capabilities.  My full recaps of the entire weekend will be coming this week, in the interim I will leave with a few collages.

Friday night in the city:

Saturday during the day we met up with Rosemary, Phyllis and their husbands for breakfast.  After breakfast we explored the city for awhile, taking in all that NYC has to offer.  It also rained at about 6:15 pm, it did not make the night any cooler but,  it was followed by a beautiful rainbow right outside our hotel window (the pic does not do it justice).

Don’t forget to check back this week to hear all about our crazy, amazing night!!!

Did you participate in the Moonwalk?

Disclosure:  As a compensated Real Health Contributor I was given the opportunity to participate in the MoonWalk, my fees associated with the walk are being paid by BlueCross BlueShield.  All opinions expressed in my blogs are 100% my own.
